The leading University in Clinical Legal Education in Nigeria, Univeristy of Abuja has had her success in providing legal aid to those who cannot afford to hire a lawyer. Over the years Prison Pretrial detainee who found themselves behind the wall of KUJE prison due to technicalities, that could have been avoided, have been helped to regain their freedom, matters on Human Right has been successfully taken up and the education of Gwagwalada community on the use of the Freedom of Information Act has been successfully embarked on by the clinic.
University of Abuja Law Clinic was established in 2008, and although a lot has been achieved to say that University Law Clinic is where it should be would be to state that the ideology the clinic is built on is a stagnant thought. There is much to be done and much to achieved which is why there could not have been a better time to enter to partnership in the training of a social conscious lawyers than the time we are in. The time where our prisons are congested, the abuse of human right is recurring and the need for the public to ask questions using the Freedom of Information Act is of great importance.
Today marks an historical event in the history of the two Universities has a partnership was reached between the two great institution of learning. On the visit of Dr Gbenga Oduntan, a Public and Private International Law (International Courts and Tribunals; Arbitration; international commercial law, Land/Maritime boundary and territorial Disputes, Air and Space Law, and Anticorruption Law lecturer from Kent University along side Charlie Greenwood, the International Officer visited the University of Abuja Law Faculty.
